The Merriness Of More...

by: April D. Byrd

The more the merrier. It's the day after Christmas, and nearing an end to the holidays...Have you had your fill? Isn't that what its all become about. Its something about the nature of this culture in this present age that causes us to want, want, want, without putting forth effort to get, or probably giving in return. Part of the commerce of the holidays has been to appease, to satisfy our wants and desires. And The theme that America has going is doing more harm than helping. Once a year some jolly fat man will come around and give you presents? Is his fatness supposed to be his abundance and Is St. Nick really a saint of GOD? He may give presents, but we should focus more on the One that gives presence. Life everyday abundantly, is the greatest gift known to man. which only comes in communication with the giver of the gift.

Christmas has just become a more glorified spirit to celebrate the spirit of death in the world; Consumerism. We want to consume and devour, eat to our hearts content...and receive more. What begin as a celebration of love has strongly deviated into our lusts, just as the spirit that fills the air of American media is Sex; sex without romance, sex without commitment. For satiable purposes we absorb this, we take this in. In getting back to life it's the word of GOD that satisfies, His word that fulfills. We so focus in the passion of somebody elses life that we forget to join in the destiny of ours.

Their is a communication that goes beyond lust. Love requires more than just receiving it requires an interaction. Cooperating; walking with a purpose toward the desire of GOD's heart, in knowing and obeying His word is satisfaction that each want will be fulfilled. The Lord is my Shepard; He is my provider, I shall not want. Why? because I have more than I could ever ask for. Everything needed to fulfill my purpose is before me and in fulfilling my purpose, with the resource of GOD's word: Rhema and text, I am fulfilled. Its deeper and more satisfying to my soul than anything I could ever receive in the flesh. When the word touches our hearts, it blesses us to action and it more than feels good, its more than invigorating, It's vital to life and wellness. There is no doubt we have a passion, but expending our efforts towards the substance of life is more fulfilling.

Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. (Isaiah 55:2)

Wisdom, Knowledge, Love, Peace...It is the abundance of joy and the fatness of faith, Have you had your fill?

  1. :D Great post. We miss out on our fill but many of us don't recognize his abundance because we blind ourselves with the world's riches. To God be the glory for his riches and goodness and all that he is. God bless you.
