Assurance During A Shutdown

We are in a crisis that defies modern day history. People are trying to figure out how will they survive during this government shutdown when bills are due and basic needs are going unmet. For some, their hearts are heavy, their minds are racing, and their prayers have been sent. Yet the government is still shutdown and it seems like companies are sending out bills earlier than normal.

Crises of any kind may trigger unwanted trauma in people’s lives whether the crisis is based on one’s prior actions or that of someone else. When a crisis hits, it feels like you are unable to breathe. Mental instability may ensue. For others, they may come to a point in their lives where the idea of hope is now hopeless.

Even in the face of uncertainty we must remember that our Father in heaven knows what we are facing. He hears our cries and he is moving on our behalf. As the Word says in Isaiah 41:10 (KJV), “ Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”. He IS in the middle of the storm and is ready to calm the waves if we allow him to do so.

This may be easier said than done—trusting God during crises. Yet, God has not forgotten us. He’s just placing us in a position of stability so that when another crisis occurs we’re better prepared to handle it.

Decree. Declare. Demand. This test that we are going through TODAY is our testimony. It's a testimony of faith, determination, perseverance, and resilience in the face of adversity. We must believe that we have what God says that we have even in the midst of a shutdown. In this new season that we are in, we must rest in the assurance that our heavenly Father is working everything out for our good and he’ll use THIS crisis to redirect us towards his blessings.
