Greenleaf Cast Members Gather To Celebrate Atlanta Director

A few of the cast members from the Oprah Winfrey network's Mega church series Greenleaf were on site in Atlanta to celebrate Director Crystle C. Roberson's  Directorial debut for Prime Time TV.

Crystle C. Roberson is a content creator and Director who has worked on the crew of films like The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks, Think Like A Man, and Why Did I Get Married to name a few. It was a pleasure to celebrate her as she broke through in her directing career with a major television series, of Oprah sized magnitude.

Cast members Desiree Ross and Lamman Rucker were in attendance. Past crew members from previous seasons of the show were also at the celebration. The party was held at Bella, a seafood restaurant in South West Atlanta. Wine and light appetizers were served by the venue.

The first full episode directed by Roberson is in Season 4, Episode 4 of the show titled "A Common Enemy". She has also directed another episode in this current season. It was inspiring to witness her heartfelt gratitude and the ambition she has for her future as a Director. It was a testament that great things are possible if we're dedicated and in line with divine purpose.

Congratulations to Ms. Roberson! Looking forward to more positive work from her. Greenleaf airs Tuesdays at 10/9 central time on OWN.

Oprah Hosts "A New Earth" Segment On Super Soul Podcast

I remember my first time hearing about the book "A New Earth", My Pastor at the time thought it was so powerful, she shared it with the church.

I recall how revolutionary the teachings were, they began to change the way I looked at life and everything around me. I was so impressed that when the Author of "A New Earth" Eckhart Tolle released his book "The Power Of Now" I went out and got it immediately.

Being a few months into being an avid listener of Oprah's Super Soul Podcast I was elated when I heard that she would be dissecting the book with Eckhart Tolle in an episode every Monday. The regular segment is currently on Chapter 4 in the book and encourages listeners to read along.

Copies of Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" can be found here. Super Soul Podcast with Oprah can be listened to wherever you get your podcasts.

Fearfully and Wonderfully Designed

Yesterday I was walking through the grocery store and I saw some corn puffs, I don't usually buy corn puffs, but there was something special about this bag. They were shaped like cheetah paws.

The image immediately brought back memories of my childhood because I always bought the corn puffs that were shaped like paws. I picked up the bag immediately just because of the fact.

When I got to the car I thought it was kinda silly to buy some corn puffs just because of their shape, but as I reflected I thought "Somebody took the time out to make that shape, and to carry it through to be shared in stores." There had to be some special technology to get those cheetah paws and differentiate them from regular ol' corn puffs.

At that very moment it crossed my mind that GOD took his time out to make each and everyone of us with a "special shape". I suddenly appreciated the paws a little bit more and had gratitude for the amazing GOD that created the universe.

The psalmist in Psalm 139:14 declares:
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
This is the feeling I had when I left the store with my cheetah shaped corn puffs. A feeling of thankfulness and gratitude that each of us are different, and all of us matter. Let this be your reminder that you are uniquely and Wonderfully made by the most dynamic GOD.

Iyanla Vanzant says it like this: "You matter"!

How Would You Encourage Sophia Greenleaf?

What would you tell Sophia from "Greenleaf"? Yes, Greenleaf is fictional TV show, but that puts the scripted family in the public spotlight. Honestly, up until episode five of the shows 3rd season, for me the show's content had no real substance.

However, the particular episode was a dramatic turning point in the season for all the characters on the show, and I'm guessing some on-the-fence viewers like myself, but especially for Sophia, the character played by Desiree Ross. She received a diagnosis that left her sterile and unable to conceive kids of her own. Doctors removed her ovaries, leaving no hope for natural babies and at a low point with her faith in GOD.

The diagnosis is definite, but the believer in me wants to see a miraculous breakthrough in Sophia's plot so bad! The initial shock of the news left me speechless and caused me to think on what good can come from this kind of news. The issue fortunately changed my view about the show's content because it's dealing with real life issues, but it left me with confusion on how to address this with real life people.

why are some people born with disabilities and disorders? Why does GOD embed these issues in the master plan? I really had to think about the situation before responding too quick, to avoid being insensitive or being attacked by some random twitter trolls. What can actually be said in these situations thats encouraging?

If I could help encourage Sophia I would say a few things and hope they could be of some significance.

Real Sympathy
First of all, "I'm so sorry." point blank. period. I can imagine that it's extremely hard to get news like that. Who could imagine that something like this would happen. Please know I'm here for your support.

Sincere Encouragement
Keep believing and aiming to fulfill GOD's purpose.  Circumstances cannot stop you from thriving. Keep searching for a solution despite what the "experts" say. Keep praying. Keep researching, because you getting a breakthrough might be the key to helping somebody else's redemption with the same plight.

The "woman with the issue of Blood" in the Bible is not so much a story of miracle healing power as it is a story of tenacity, determination, and UNYIELDING faith. For 12 Years, she never stopped being persistent and focusing on healing. Stay strong at all costs.

True Reference and Witness
Go all the way in! If you've ever had any reason to go crazy trusting GOD, the time is now! If we really want what GOD wants it has to be completely what GOD wants, not mixed with a tinge of what we want. Surrender to GOD's will, keep trusting He has your best in mind. Seek to know GOD's thoughts. Whenever I've trusted GOD that's where my peace has come in. Scripture says:
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." - Isaiah 55:8-9
I personally have never expereinced a drastic health situation, but I've been through enough to trust GOD in any situation. It seems like Sophia is losing her faith. We don't ever really lose faith, we just supress it. Although Sophia is really giving up hope at this point, I'm looking forward to seeing how the story progresses. The writers of the show can still take it in any direction, just like GOD can do with our real lives. GOD is the ultimate show runner, the Author and Finisher of our faith!

10 Inspirational Quotes From Queen Sugar

Queen Sugar is back! (OWN) The Oprah Winfrey Network recently kicked off Season 3
of it’s series Queen Sugar. It was explosive and powerful to watch as fans expected it to be.
“Sugar babies” can’t get enough of the show because of it’s quality content and uninhibited expression
of truth. Queen Sugar is one of, if not THE most woke, conscious, and real shows on TV.
The show airs on Wednesdays at 10pm EST. So many inspirational gems and quotes
can be taken from the show I decided to share a few from the premiere of this season.
Hopefully these words of wisdom, strength and affirmation can hold us over until the next episode:

“Don’t lead with the fear of what might be, lead with the strength of who you are.”

"Amplify through your words and glory"

“Bet on yourself”

“For the first time in my life I didn't feel like I had to justify my presence"

"I will always lift you up."

"I will not be side-lined, sidetracked or side-stepped!"

I’ve been ‘only human’ my whole life, I want to be something else now, I want to be a warrior.

Just because you wish something is meant to be doesn’t mean it is.

It depends on what you're giving up to get it"

I know it's a little thing, but it's my little thing.

What are some quotes or moments from the show that inspire you to “take flight” toward your best life? Share in the comments section of this post or reach out to us online @BOLDJournal.

Time's Up For Unfaithfulness

It's like Oprah's words earlier this week were prophetic: Time's Up!

I had the choice today to come down on someone for their fault, or to compliment them and be of assistance how I could where they fell short. This came a day after me being angry at my own self for all my faults, but still feeling grace from God and the revelation to do better.

You will never get people to do right by bashing them from the start, or reprimanding them to establish a point. God doesn't bash us, but there is a number of times to keep making mistakes before its just blatant ignorance.

Let's do better! Let's strive to do better NOW more than ever.
"Times up to ignore the voice and will of God for our lives.
Times up to stay stagnant for our own comfort.
Times up to not be walking intentionally in our purpose."
As I go forward in the day I feel very encouraged to be influenced by God's character. More importantly to seek it before everything else.

Although it's not easy, it's absolutely necessary.
